Description
This will be our last auction before a short end-of-summer break.Offered is a fine vintage Anishinaabe or Haudenosaunee Native American or First Nation Sweetgrass Basket, decorated with felt and beads, featuring a pink pony.
This measures 5 1/2" by 2". It is an older piece, probably dating to around the 1970s, based on the age of sweetgrass and felt.
Nice vintage condition. Sweetgrass has darkened a bit with age. Felt is a bit dusty and the pink horse has one notch near ears, which could be intentional. Looks like a few beads are missing on two feet and possibly the tail. Still a lovely vintage Native American or First Nation craft.
The style of basket is often done by tribal members on Walpole Island and the Six Nations of Grand River but it also done by some of the Great Lakes Anishinaabe in Michigan and Minnesota. I purchased this second hand, so I don't know any history on it.
Please pay ASAP. I will have to cancel the sale if I don't receive payment within 4 days of auction's end as I will be unable to mail after that time until sometime mid-September. Thank you!.
General Information about our business, shipping, holding items,
etc.:
* Most of the items we sell come from our personal collection gathered over the years from our travels, from Native powwows and craft stores, antique shops, auctions and estate sales. Now that our kids are in college and beyond, we are letting some items go so others can enjoy them.
*We w
ill gladly combine orders to save you on shipping charges. Please email for a combined invoice before paying. Sometimes a few first class items jump to priority pricing (.25 and up) because weight puts a package over the 16 ounce limit. Sorry, I can't combine collectibles and book/Magazine purchases.
*If you don't communicate and don't pay, you will get an automated non-paying bidder notice from Ebay after 4 days. Thank you!
*International Buyers:
I will mail first class to Canada but to all other locations, I prefer to mail priority to insure your item arrives safely. Please email me with questions. Sorry for the expense, but I've had items lost overseas when mailing first class and don't want to take the risk of losing items.
*I pack carefully and try to reuse materials to save on environmental impact. I often double-box items with smaller gift boxes collected from various thrift stores. Though I don't like styrofoam peanuts for environmental reasons, I have found they are the best at protecting fragile items against damage during shipping. I reuse all that I receive and hope you will make use of the ones that come in your packages. Thank you.
* Please contact us before leaving negative feedback if something isn't right with your item. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase
