    DETAILED DESCRIPTION
    :
This auction is for an intricately hand woven Pacific Northwest Coast Nootka Nuu-cha-nulth lidded basket. Very similar to Makah baskets with very slight differences. The Nootka are North American Indians who live along the seaward coast of Vancouver Island. In examining these laborious works of art, you will notice Nootka baskets tend to have less cider plaiting showing on the bottom. This intricate and very finely woven lidded basket has been packed away allowing the colored pigments to remain crisp and bright, canoes with tribesmen are clearly evident. Paper found inside basket identifies weaver as Flora Edgar who passed away in 2000, some 21 years ago. Basket stands 4" tall with lid in place x 3 1/4" diameter, please always remove lids gently on these fine baskets that have intricate rim work. This Nootka basket has been part of a private Native American collection. Many photos taken of every angle possible. No breaks or damage to report, excellent condition. Starting bid very low & no reserve! USPS insured
