Peter Nauja Qiluqi (1936- )
A large, proud beaver stands at attention, searching for new material to build his den. This proud creature is memorialized in this superb carving. Poised and arched, this beaver stands on a deftly carved soapstone base. Made by Inuit artist Peter Nauja Qiluqi, and likely a vintage piece, this carving is made from a solid piece of soapstone.
This piece is signed on the bottom with the disc number and name of the Inuit carver. Peter Nauja Qiluqi (E9-1316), born in 1936, lives in the Akulivik village in northern Quebec Provence, on the Hudson Bay. It is a beautiful place, and a bit of its character is captured in this piece.
Condition:
This piece is in MINT condition. There are very few, if any, signs of use or wear, and no damage, repair, or flaw. This is a museum-quality piece.
