    Description

Offered for sale is a two-figure totem pole carved by noted Tsimshian maker Moses Alexcee (c. 1878-1958).
The pole features a beaver with an eagle raven finial on top.
This brightly painted pole is carved in red cedar and measures a modest 8.5” tall and is 1.75" by 2” around the base.
The back is covered with numerous illegible signatures but it appears that at one time it was a birthday present.
Alexcee was a member of the famous family of Tsimshian carvers from Port Simpson, BC, that included the highly influential carver Frederick Alexcee.
Moses Alexcee was also a regular carver for William Webber’s Thunderbird Scenery Shop in Vancouver, and his work can be found in prominent institutions such as the Museum of Vancouver and the Museum of Anthropology at UBC.
