    Description

For sale is a beautifully carved Northwest Coast mask by artist Janice Morin (1957-).
This mask is titled Kooloos which in Northwest Coast mythology, is the 'younger brother' of Thunderbird whom he resembles:  He is strong with supernatural powers but does not have curly appendages on his head and is smaller in size.
This Kooloos cedar mask is carved and painted in the traditional colors of Northwest Coast art: green, red and black. The mask is surrounded by thick cedar braided bark emphasizing the mask and providing a striking finish.
Janice Morin is of Cree decent and has been associated with the Coast Salish. Janice has been carving for 30 years specializing in cedar masks. Janice and her partner, Randy Stiglitz continue to influence each other`s art and the community as well.
    The measurements are 11" H X 8 1/2" W bX 7 1/2" D and the mask is in excellent condition.
