Excellent pre-owned condition
Bear is more the color of the pictures with the lighter background.
Basically this is a black stone, but lighter weight that I would expect as I pick it up - maybe by 1/3rd.
Weighs 1 pound 4 oz, whereas it looks like it would weigh closer to 2 pounds. It does not appear to be a porous stone.
it is unsigned, and the bear's shape I've seen in Inuit carvings as well as Native American carvings (like a heart-line bear)
I see what appear to be crevices in the rock so I do not think it was a molded item, but that might explain the weight and the uniform coloring.
But then, it does not feel as light as plaster or volcanic ash would be . . . don't you just love buying from an old Arizona cowboy that doesn't know what he's got???
If you do not think you know more about this that I do, perhaps you should just pass, unless you really like the shape and the size!
