Illustrated with 28 black-and-white photographs, this book reviews the history and development of early American silver in Philadelphia.  This book lists the silversmiths by name and the dates they worked.  It references examples of items they produced and apparently exhibited in the museum during this 1956 year.  595 items are identified in this book, although only 28 are actually photographed for this publication.  The book is an invaluable aid for identifying the makers of Philadelphia silver during this 1681-1800 period of silversmithing in the Philadelphia area.
